How to Turn off Harbor Breeze Fan Without Remote
Ensure your safety by staying clear of the fan blades and not standing directly underneath.
Our first step will be a safety precaution. Because safety comes first when dealing with electrical devices. So in the first step, you have to turn off the button so that your fan will not get current. After that clear the fan blades and move aside from the underneath. This step will make sure that you don’t get current or any injury.
Locate the main power source or switch that supplies power to the fan.
Next, you have to make sure that the fan doesn’t have current. For that, all you have to do is locate the main power source. The power source transfers the current to the fan and makes it work. Usually, the power source is located in the walls or the electrical box.
Once you find your harbor breeze fan power source. This step will ensure that no current is transferred to the fan. So you will be safe while dealing with it and don’t get shocked.
Turn off the switch to ensure no electricity is flowing to the fan.
After locating your main switch box. You know what you have to do next. Turn it off. Stop the current supply to the fan. If you skip this skip and don’t turn the main switch off. You will get current after touching the wires. Thus this step is very important.
Climb a stable ladder or step stool to reach the fan.
Now you have to reach out to your fans. In this step, you will need a stable ladder. Take your ladder out and keep it beneath the fan. It should be placed in a manner so that you can reach the fan. Garb your toolbox Hold the box in your 1 hand and walk through the stable ladder. You have to perform this step with full attention.
Look for a manual chain or pull cord hanging from the fan or its light fixture.
Next, you have to locate the manual chain or pull cord. Manual chains or pull cords are usually attached to the fan body. It performs a function to speed the fan, slow the fan, or turn off the fan. Some fans are equipped with manual chains while some are equipped with pull cords. So you have to find out which one you have.
Pull the chain once. In many fans, this will toggle the fan’s speed.
After finding out your manual chain or pull cord. Next, you have to pull the chain one time. If your fan didn’t manually stop then it means you have multiple speed settings. In that case, you don’t want to panic just start pulling it until it gets closed. But if your fan gets closed in one time pull then you don’t have to pull it again. You should move towards the next step.
Continue to pull the chain sequentially to cycle through the speeds.
As we discussed in case your fan didn’t off by 1 time pull. You have to start pulling it while it didn’t off. This step doesn’t mean that there is any problem with your harbor breeze fan. Usually, it happens when you have a multiple-speed setting. So it’s normal.
Pull the chain until the fan stops rotating, indicating it’s turned off.
While continuously pulling the chain, keep your eyes on the above fan. If it gets slow then stop pulling you have successfully turned it off. But if the fan is not getting slow after 3 to 4 pulls then keep pulling the chain. You have to perform this step until the fan is turned off.
For the lights, if present, there may be a separate chain. Pull it to toggle the lights on or off.
You have to perform this step if applicable. If your harbor breeze fan has a light on it which is on. Then you also have to turn it off. You can simply turn it off by pulling it to the toggle. If you don’t have any light on your harbor breeze fan then you don’t have to perform this step you can move towards the last step.
Return to the ground safely and move the ladder or step stool out of the way.
